Sidewalks, steps, and more

We’ve been working toward finalizing site work with the installation of sidewalks, steps, and handrails at and between Waterman Buildings 100 (the Welcome Center) and 200 (the new shelter building). The walkway that connects the two buildings is now in place, and we’ve also installed new concrete steps at the back of Bldg. 100, connecting the deck to the Bldg. 200 parking lot. Handrails have been installed out front but still need to be painted, and more handrails are still to come along the remaining steps and walkways.

Our low-voltage contractor has been on-site working on their portion of the project, which encompasses security and data/communications. All of our campus buildings are now connected via laid fiber, with Bldg. 200 serving as the hub. This is a big technological improvement for us!

Finishing work continues in Bldg. 200 with the installation of (kitty-proof!) ceilings, flooring, and cabinetry. It looks amazing, and we are eagerly counting down the days until our resident kitties can move into their new digs! We’ve also been putting the finishing touches on the Welcome Center interior, including some snazzy new doors.

We’ve been working with our sign artist to finalize the signage designs, and we’re really excited about the results. Pending approval and acquisition of a sign permit from the City of Marietta, our artist will be fabricating and installing the new signage throughout our campus. We’ll share photos as soon as we’re able!

Next steps include installation of new fencing and gates, and completion of site work such as landscaping and one last retaining wall.
