Entering the home stretch
There has been enormous progress over the past few weeks! Things are coming together fast as we enter the finishing phase.
On the exterior, the siding, windows, and storefront doors have been installed. The parking lot has been paved with asphalt, and we’re currently making decisions about landscaping details. We’ve also chosen a sign artist to create our signage for us — the new shelter building and the new Welcome Center will both receive new signage, and the existing signage on our Fairground facility will receive a makeover.
On the interior, the walls are closed up and we’re almost ready to start painting. All cat rooms will be painted with epoxy paint, which is durable, hygienic, and easy to clean. We’ve made the interior color selections, opting for a soothing palette of blues, greens, violets, and greys. We’ve also chosen the color flake system for the epoxy flooring, and made the cabinet and countertop finishing selections.
Beyond the new shelter building, we’re also moving to complete some work on other campus facilities. The new Waterman Street Welcome Center will be receiving an exterior paint job, we’ll be installing connecting sidewalks and walkways between buildings, and we’ll be making improvements to our outdoor dog runs (where our dogs spend some time each day to get sunshine and fresh air). And we’ll also be installing new fencing to enclose the entire campus.
