My name is Edgar, and I am an extraordinary boy. I am handsome, easygoing, loving, and affectionate; everyone who meets me falls in love with me. But there is something else that’s special about me: I am positive for both FIV and FeLV. Wait, please don’t stop reading! Please don’t look away! I might have health issues, but that doesn’t mean I’m unworthy of love or a home or a family. The right home for me is out there somewhere, I just know it!
FIV and FeLV are scary diseases, but cats like me who have them can still enjoy a good life. Right now, I am staying healthy and happy with nutritious food, probiotics, lysine supplements, and lots of love and attention. Humans cannot contract FIV or FeLV from cats, but I am contagious to other felines. For this reason, I will require either a single-cat household, or a household where any other cats are also positive for both FIV and FeLV. I must also be a strictly indoor-only cat (as the HSCC recommends for all kitties).
If you’re unfamiliar with my conditions and want to learn more, there are many good resources on the Internet. Two can be found at https://www.aspca.org/pet-care/cat-care/common-cat-diseases and https://www.petmd.com/cat/conditions/difference-between-felv-and-fiv; Google will certainly reveal many others!
The HSCC pulled me from Cobb County Animal Services because they thought they could give me a better chance at adoption, and even if I’m not adopted, I will still have a safe and comfortable home at the HSCC’s no-kill shelter. I am so loving, so sweet, and such a pleasure to be around; I have so much to offer! I hope there is a special person reading this who is thinking, “I have room in my heart and my home for Edgar…” I promise, I’m worth it.
If you think I would be a good fit for your home, please call 770-428-LOST (5678) to set up an appointment to come meet me! I have been neutered and microchipped and am up to date on all my vaccinations.
