Edgar’s adoption is a special one, because this sweet kitty is positive for both FIV and FeLV. His condition is scary to a lot of potential adopters, so while we always held out hope that he would find a loving forever home, we were prepared for the possibility that Edgar would live out his days at our no-kill shelter. Then Edgar’s new mom stepped into the picture.
Edgar’s new mom and her grandmother were missing their cat who had passed, and they wanted to adopt a new feline friend. After looking at kitty bios on our website, they made an appointment to visit a different cat at our no-kill shelter, since he reminded them of their other kitty. Once at the shelter, they were open to meeting some other cats before making a final decision, and Edgar was one of those kitties. Upon meeting him, it was love at first sight for Edgar’s new mom!
We suggested that she speak with her veterinarian to learn more about FIV/FeLV before moving forward with the adoption. She agreed, and after talking with her vet, she informed us that she definitely wanted to open her heart and her home to this handsome boy. She’d even decided on his new nickname: Eddie Mercury!
We are so happy for this special boy and his new family. Happy tails to all!
