The HSCC is pleased to have participated in Chalktoberfest 2018! Presented by the Marietta/Cobb Museum of Art, Chalktoberfest is an annual chalk, beer, and wine festival that is held on the Marietta Square every October.
2018 was our third year participating in the festival. We had a booth on the Square, where we were able to interact with people and their pets (and provide water for many thirsty pups!). Steve Imler, our President and Chairman, sponsored a chalk artist on our behalf: Genna Panzarella, of Mill Valley, CA.
Genna’s art piece was modeled on the theme “Lassie Goes Home,” a bittersweet story where Lassie finally makes it home only to discover that the movie is over and all she has left are her memories. Lassie curls up on a movie poster from her heyday and reminisces about the life she has led and the people she has loved.
The work was completed over the course of two days, with Genna working from a grid and meticulously translating her vision onto a large scale in chalk. We are so pleased with the results! Our thanks to Steve for sponsoring the piece, to Genna for sharing her magnificent work, and to the organizers of Chalktoberfest for another wonderful festival. We look forward to seeing everyone again next year!
