The mission of the Humane Society of Cobb County is to promote humane welfare and responsible animal guardianship through educational community outreach, shelter, and spay/neuter programs.

The Humane Society of Cobb County is a charitable, humane animal welfare organization founded in 1957. With the assistance of dedicated, caring volunteers and generous supporters, our programs continue to make a positive difference in the lives of innocent animals in need.

All of our pets have been tested, vaccinated, microchipped and spayed/neutered before adoption.

We appreciate your interest in volunteer opportunities at the Humane Society of Cobb County. We are a local, no kill, non-profit organization. We do not get any city, county, state or Humane Society of the United States funding.

The facility is run on donations, bequests, and grants and through fund raising efforts. We house mainly cats, kittens, several exotic/pocket pets, and only a few dogs at a time which are typically small breed.

Our greatest volunteer need at this time are in the areas of daily cleaning of our free roaming cat rooms, maintenance of the property and data entry.

If you are able to assist in any or all of these areas, please fill out and forward your volunteer profile. Orientations will be scheduled based on these specific needs first, so we ask that you be patient during the process. Your help is of great value to our organization!

Our Community Service program is seperate to our volunteer program. Please review "Other information" below regarding Community Service participation.

Due to liability reasons we do not allow volunteers under the age of 18. Below you will find various activities that require volunteer time. Please download and return the volunteer profile form via email. We will then notify you of the next orientation date. These orientations last approximately an hour. You must attend an orientation prior to volunteering.

  • If you have a high interest in working hands on with dogs, contact Cobb County Animal Control 770-590-5603. They typically house approximately 200 dogs.
